Inclusion.

Even a strongly independent woman like myself has to admit that, I too, seek to be included.

It’s actually a very natural, instinctual state of being.

The problem is that being included doesn’t feel natural or very easy for some of us.

It could be our family of origin had patterns that made us feel alienated or it could be a product of a society that feeds on conflict (as we see in social media).

Whatever the cause is, not being included can have very detrimental affects on your well being.

How can we find inclusion?

It comes when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable. When [...]
More

Just because a lot of people say it doesn’t mean it’s true.

I used to spend a lot of time asking people their opinions on things. I needed to know what I was doing was right, what I was saying was correct and if what other people thought about me was true. I was seeking out other peoples opinion because I thought somehow they knew more than me. In the end I really realized I was seeking out their approval.

What a horrible waste of time! Not to mention a great way to sabotage my already low self-esteem.

The kicker was when I would believe [...]
More

After sending out my Get Comfortable In Your Own Skin home study program last week, I received a lot of different questions about the program and how people could benefit from it.

What I learned is that we are sometimes scared to be uncomfortable. The program focuses on getting comfortable in your own skin, but sometimes trusting that a new process or even outlook in life will work make us a little uncomfortable.

It feels counter intuitive when I say it, but it’s absolutely a hundred percent true. In order to get comfortable in our own skin we actually have [...]
More

When I talk to a group of women or even a single woman I’m often surprised at what they think they need in their lives to feel better.

For women who are in jobs they dislike I often hear “I need a side gig to turn into something to get me out of here”, meaning their job. They often see going into business themselves or a new job as a way to save themselves and their sanity.

Too many women struggle with confidence. Or the courage to believe they can create something much larger than themselves. Whether it’s the confidence to stand in front of a large group of people and speak or the courage to end a relationship that not serving you, you can boldly do these things when you allow yourself to be proud of what you have done in your life.

It is definitely the time of year when we feel like everyone should be fa-la-laing and cheerful. We spend a lot of time decorating, baking, and planning parties. We want to create a perfect holiday and expect everyone to act accordingly.

Except they don’t.

And if you’re anything like me, you try to fix everything just right so everything feels good.

But you can’t.

That’s the biggest thing I’ve learned about the holidays and life in general. Fixing never works. It drains your energy and robs you of the present moment. It also doesn’t allow you to accept people for exactly what they [...]
More

When a potential client who is interested in my services approaches me and they immediately start listing all the self-help books they have read; I become very curious. Why? It reminds me of the phenomena I notice frequently that I have coined the “boob job effect”.

The “boob job effect” is when I hear a woman saying that she has low self-esteem and increasing her breast size will give her better self-esteem. I haven’t been able to pinpoint the logic on that one.

I have nothing against self-help books or boob jobs. I think self-help books are a great resource in [...]
More
