How To Get The Answers

How To Get The Answers

Everyone is looking for the answer.

They want to know the best way to get a healthier body, a better mindset, a relationship, or a new job.

They believe the answer is eluding them somehow. They should know it by now.

That’s when I tell them: they do.

It’s in their body. It’s in all our bodies. We all have it in equal measure. It is our inner voice, our intuition, and our inner wisdom. Call it what you like: it’s a part of us that’s always there waiting to be listened to.

When I tell my clients that all they need to do [...]

The Power of Gratitude

The Power of Gratitude

Whether you are having a challenging day, month or year the quickest and most effective way to feel more lightness in your life is to focus on gratitude. Being grateful isn’t hard, when you allow yourself to be filled with joy over even the smallest of things. I find it helpful to make two lists big and small. And no matter how small it is, it still counts!

My Gratitude List

Big Stuff:

My husband, my dog Aspen, family and friends.

All of my clients and readers of my blog.

My health.

My home.

Small Stuff:

Morning walks with the dog.

Slipping into bed with a good book.

My [...]

Eat, Sleep, Read

Eat, Sleep, Read

I was walking around downtown Asheville, NC last week and noticed a bookstore with a sign that said, “Eat, Sleep, Read”. On the other side of the window there was a sign for the children’s section that said, “Snack, Sleep, Read”. I found myself immediately attracted to both of these ideas. It got me thinking about how a lot of us adults live a life of tight schedules and don’t create the time for such a simple thing.

It’s funny when you think about it, because as a young child that is really what your life consisted of. Don’t you [...]

Doing It Yourself

Doing It Yourself

I’ve always been a do it your selfer (not sure if that’s even word!). Fiercely independent, and at times stubborn, I always wanted to do things on my own. In the past it was difficult for me to ask for help. I always believed I could do it myself.  Then along my journey I realized that trying to do it alone makes it much more difficult than it needs to be.

A part of me still thinks it’s true that you can do anything yourself, but the other part knows there’s a true power and a greater outcome when you [...]

Are you too serious?

Are you too serious?

I hate to say it but my husband was right. We were choosing a movie last Saturday night and I off course wanted to watch something deep. I choose the “Conspirator”, a film about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. My husband’s first response was “I want to watch something fun, why do all of your movies have to be so serious?” Though my “I was in a film major in college” wanted to jump and defend my excellent choice in films, on a very simple level I knew he was right.

When I was in a job I disliked I [...]

Finding Your Something Else

Finding Your Something Else

Next month marks two years since I left my safe, secure, and tenured job. I had spent 11 long years in a job that drained me mentally and physically. To say it was not the best use of my talents is an understatement. I always knew I wanted to do something else, but I had a hard time figuring out exactly what the “else” was. I was very driven and motivated, which made it all the more difficult because I had nowhere to place the motivation. Leaving me feeling stuck externally, but with the internal adrenaline to push forward [...]

Taking the Plunge

Taking the Plunge

Never say never… After years of avoiding, then months of dipping her feet in and looking longingly at ducks, I watched a once terrified dog jump in the water and swim! In human terms: FEAR + INTENSE DESIRE= TAKING THE PLUNGE !

** The dog pictured is not my dog Aspen, though she looks almost exactly the same!

Why What You Say is Important

Why What You Say is Important

I used to be a big time worrier. I would worry about everything: big, small or miniscule. From saying the “wrong” thing to the supermarket clerk to getting in trouble for some future mistake I hadn’t even made yet.

Worry consumed my mind most of the time. It was the biggest distraction I used to avoid my feelings and being in the present moment.

It disrupted my thoughts, goals, sleep, and conversations. I was always looking for assurance from others that my worries were not warranted.

It took a lot of practice and concentrated effort for me to beat it.

And it still [...]
