Why I Stopped Trying To Be Better

Why I Stopped Trying To Be Better

I found myself on Facebook one morning and though it has been blatantly obvious for a long time, I couldn’t help to notice the over abundance of posts about how to get better at something.

It looked like this: “How to succeed better, how to meet your goals better, how to have a better relationship, how to lose weight better”

There was so much bettering (my word) on that page, it literally made me feel sick. How much time do we spend wasting on trying to be better? In that moment I decided to take the word better out of my [...]

Are You Ready To Get Uncomfortable Yet?

Are You Ready To Get Uncomfortable Yet?

After sending out my Get Comfortable In Your Own Skin home study program last week, I received a lot of different questions about the program and how people could benefit from it.

What I learned is that we are sometimes scared to be uncomfortable. The program focuses on getting comfortable in your own skin, but sometimes trusting that a new process or even outlook in life will work make us a little uncomfortable.

It feels counter intuitive when I say it, but it’s absolutely a hundred percent true. In order to get comfortable in our own skin we actually have [...]

#1 Way to Save Time, Money, and Yourself

#1 Way to Save Time, Money, and Yourself

When I talk to a group of women or even a single woman I’m often surprised at what they think they need in their lives to feel better.

For women who are in jobs they dislike I often hear “I need a side gig to turn into something to get me out of here”, meaning their job. They often see going into business themselves or a new job as a way to save themselves and their sanity.

Or they reach out to self-help to save their minds. They devour books, talks, and yoga retreats as a way to fix themselves. They [...]

Are You Proud of Yourself?

Are You Proud of Yourself?

Too many women struggle with confidence. Or the courage to believe they can create something much larger than themselves. Whether it’s the confidence to stand in front of a large group of people and speak or the courage to end a relationship that not serving you, you can boldly do these things when you allow yourself to be proud of what you have done in your life.

Whether it’s the big or little things, cultivating self pride is crucial in building better self esteem and taking risks required to achieve your goals.

As a good girl, self-pride was really difficult for [...]

Better Than Just Being Nice

Better Than Just Being Nice

Are you tired of being nice?

I know I sure am. It still feels a little mean to me when I say it, because I spent so much time trying to micromanage other people’s feelings but the truth of the matter is I got really tired of being nice.

2014 was a really transformational year for me in which I had to stop with all my nice girl stuff and create some real solid boundaries in my life. It wasn’t easy and it didn’t feel good. In fact I think it was one of the hardest things I had to do.

But [...]

Are You Engaging Enough?

Are You Engaging Enough?

Hello my friends and welcome to the New Year!

Many of the women I work with have it all together in terms of working, achieving things, family, etc. But there’s one thing that’s missing: they don’t feel engaged in their lives. Because they keep this having it all together facade, they very rarely reach out for help. They isolate themselves because they don’t know how to ask for help or who to ask for help.

I’ve fallen into this trap way too many times. My tendency was to withdraw from the world and figure it out myself.

Why?

I felt some kind of [...]

Skinny Girls and The Lies We Tell About Them

Skinny Girls and The Lies We Tell About Them

I have always been a skinny girl. It was never through starving myself or working out like crazy, it’s just who I am.

And yes there was a time that I gained some weight, but once I resolved the underlying issue I went back to my normal body weight, which is skinny.

I find it difficult to admit or talk about that openly because there seems to be such disdain for skinny women in our culture. Before you stop reading this because you think “What is she talking about? All the models are skinny…” and “That’s what the media pushes on [...]

Living in Fast Motion

Living in Fast Motion

I’ve been in fast motion my entire life. I wanted everything to happen now and not a second later.

If it happened fast, it was certain. Then I could relax and feel good. (Or so I thought.)

I avoided the present moment of uncertainty because it seemed scary. The not knowing created lots of anxiety. So if I could just make it happen, I could be in the future, where I deemed everything to be okay.

Sounds stressful? Well it was.

Pushing forward in fast motion is never comfortable. And it doesn’t get you the change you really want.

The real kind of soul [...]
